Baroness Thatcher

So, the news everyone is talking about is that Baroness Thatcher has passed away following a stroke. Much of Facebook is full of hatred for the woman, with some people being extremely callous and unthoughtful.

Without bringing politics into it, few can argue that when Margaret Thatcher took over the country, it was in a real mess, and she did marvellous work in bashing it back into shape, which was borne out by the fact she was not only the first female prime minister, but that she managed to win no less than three general elections - a feat that would be unheard of in this day and age.

Whether you loved or hated her, the resentment that is going round is totally uncalled for - not only for the fact she has been out of politics for many years, but also because of the passion she showed towards the country, and for her strong willed determination to get things back on track - again, something that seems sadly lacking today.

Finally, it should also be remembered that as well as being a no-nonsense leader, she was also a wife and mother - she was a perfectly normal person doing a job to the best of her ability - she wasn't a wicked witch. So please, before getting drawn into any heartless comments, just think for a moment - how would you feel if someone spoke like that about your mother, or even you?
